LIC | A Catalyst for Population and Public Health Management

Lab Requirements

Through continued refinement of HITECH and meaningful use, ONC and CDC plan to work towards increased sharing of data from hospitals and providers to public health. Each refinement provides significant opportunities to enhance the overall capabilities of public health — reduce disparities, control chronic diseases, and the health of our communities. For hospitals and laboratories, Stage 1 meaningful use objectives promote adoption of electronic transfer capabilities to public health by mandating the inclusion of at least one population / public health measure.
