LIC | A Catalyst for Population and Public Health Management

The Lab Interoperability Collaborative (LIC) is a catalyst to improve public and population health and is focused on public health reporting.

The LIC is highly sensitive to the privacy interests of the organizations that agree to participate in LIC services and believe that the protection of those interests is a significant responsibility. In acknowledgment of its obligations, the LIC has adopted the following Privacy Policy applicable to information about customers and facilities that it acquires in the course of its business:

  1. Acquisition of Information. We do not acquire any more information about facilities than is necessary to provide a high level of service efficiently and securely.
  2. Our Employees and Privacy. Our personnel understand the importance of privacy. We give access to information collected only to those personnel who require it to perform their jobs.
  3. Disclosure to Third Parties. We will provide individually-identifiable information about customers to third parties only if we are compelled to do so by order of a duly-empowered governmental authority, we have the express permission of the facility representative, or is necessary to process transactions and provide our services.

As part of the services, the LIC provides outreach to stakeholders to participate in LIC services. The outreach effort includes data collection through checklists to determine participant viability. The information collected may include highly sensitive details regarding a facility’s health information systems and data transfer protocols and will only be used for business specifically related to the LIC unless given express consent by the primary designated facility representative.
